【APPLICATION】CHECK VALVE INSTALLED IN WATER PIPE

Tilting Disc Check Valve with hammer, also known as the slow-closing butterfly check valve, is based on a horizontally installed eccentric flanged Butterfly Valve. It incorporates a lever and counterweight mechanism, allowing the disc to open as water flow increases. Additionally, it is equipped with a hydraulic damping device to achieve slow disc closure, effectively preventing water hammer impact. Consequently, this type of weighted tilting Check Valve is commonly used in pipeline sections prone to water hammer, such as long-distance transmission pipelines and pump stations.
Compared to conventional check valves—such as dual-plate check valves, swing check valves, and lift check valves—which rely on media pressure differential for operation and are prone to generating shock water hammer due to rapid closing, the anti-water hammer check valve incorporates a slow-closing, anti-water hammer design in addition to its basic function of preventing media backflow. It utilizes dedicated devices like hydraulic dampers and spring buffer components to reduce the disc closing speed, thereby minimizing water hammer impact caused by media backflow. However, due to its more complex structure compared to standard check valves, it requires higher maintenance frequency and cost. Nevertheless, considering its pipeline protection function, it offers significant advantages in critical applications.

The weighted tilting check valve primarily consists of a valve body, disc, sealing ring, and buffer device. It enables staged disc closure (initially fast closing most of the way, followed by slow closure). The butterfly check valve reduces flow resistance through its streamlined design and extends the closing time to 3-6 seconds, effectively controlling the water hammer peak within 1.5 times the working pressure and significantly weakening the impact. It is mainly used in industrial water supply and drainage, building fire-fighting water supply, industrial circulating water systems, and wastewater treatment plants at pump outlets to prevent media backflow in pipelines, eliminate water hammer phenomena, and ensure the safe operation of pipeline systems.
